ANNOUNCES AUTHORIZED QUALITY CURRICULUM PROGRAM
CAQC Program Reviews Certification Training Materials
and Study Aids
CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, today announced
the launch of its Authorized Quality Curriculum Program (CAQC).
The program identifies training materials, including books, self-study
guides, classroom training programs, videos, computer-based training
and other written and instructor-led programs that have been reviewed
and found to map closely to the objectives of the appropriate CompTIA
certification examination. Training materials for all nine CompTIA certifications
will be covered by the program.
“Exam candidates will be able to identify authorized materials
by the presence of the CAQC logo,” said program manager, Jonathan
Thatcher. “For exam candidates, the program takes the guesswork
out of the decision process. Faced with a huge array of training options,
they will know immediately which materials are most likely to help them
prepare for a successful exam.” To further aid identification
of materials, authorized curriculum will be included in a searchable
online database at www.comptia.org/certification.
Official courseware evaluation will be performed by independent third-party
experts Learning Designs Online and Procert Labs who have committed
to fair, unbiased and objective review of products submitted to the
program.
Developers and courseware publishers interested in having their materials
evaluated complete an application and select a reviewer. If review is
successful, they receive the CAQC logo for display on the relevant training
materials and for use in marketing those materials.
A number of publishers have already declared commitment to the program.
These companies include ComputerPrep (ProsoftTraining.com), Course Technology,
ElementK Press, gtslearning, plc., Marcraft, McGraw Hill, Prentice Hall,
SmartForce, Sybase, TestOut and Wave Technologies.
“Selecting the right training materials can be time-consuming
and problematic, given the range of materials and learning modalities
now available,” said Thatcher. “Courseware evaluation systems
and standards are crucial in the decision-making process. The program
should be of great benefit to courseware publishers, training providers
and to the individual candidate, in establishing an industry benchmark
and identifying preparation materials for CompTIA certification exams.”
The CAQC logo will be available for display on authorized materials
beginning in October 2001.
